both brought me to tears

IMG_3633

ransom's pill box. today was his first round of chemo.
i whispered in his ear that i knew he was strong
and that i was sorry. chemo can be dreadful.
i shed a good measure of tears.
this is so much harder than i imagined.
guilt. hope. fear. hope. sadness. hope.

praying he'll soar through treatment.

then this little champ made me cry tears of joy.
after 3 weeks of casting, her right
foot is 3 degrees from neutral. for the first time since
she's been with us, the shoe slides on without any problems
and... (drum roll)... it stays!!

  6. I'm so, so sorry that your boy is so sick...from the years I've faded in and out and in as a blog reader, I know how much he means to you, and how he's been a rock in your life. Happy for E and her progress, and happy smiles! Praying that this round of chemo leads to a remission and a little while longer together...

  8. Woohoo for E and her funky boots. And I'm so sad that your lovely doggie is dealing with such a nasty diagnosis. I hope for a great remission period filled with sweet, sweet memories and that he tolerates chemo well. My hubby and I are both veterinarians, and we have a few special bulldogs we treat....they wiggle into your heart, that's for sure. And it sounds like your guy has an extra measure of special.

  17. M and I are both taking a religion class that parallels C's sophomore "Prayer and Sacrament" class at Jesuit. It is amazing. It is basically St. Ignatius' Spiritual Excercises. If you have not, which I highly doubt anyway, read about them and/or explored his exercises or writing...WOW, you must. Which brings me to the reason of this post. We are all created to praise, love, worship, know, and give glory to God. St. Ignatius went a step further to teach that EVERYTHING in this earthly life is gifted to us to help us on our way to our own salvation offered through Jesus Christ. I thought of "Licky Larry" aka Ransom, the other night when I was doing my Spiritual Excercises. I thought about how thankful to God I am for him...for I know he has nurtured and cared for my baby sister's most tender part~your heart. He has been the one who has helped you carry your cross most especially during the difficult times ...

God knew, K, that he, then, would in turn need you. I have never known anyone who loves their animals more, and who has such a passion for caring for the terminally ill.

Perhaps we should all make the most of everyday a little more...

Give that boy a squeeze from us.
    I love you.
