The Boob

(disclaimer: despite the fact that Ransom appears
to be uncomfortable and anxious to be put back down,
the truth is he is the smoochiest dog ever and sometimes i just
can't help picking him up-even on a long walk- to
kiss his irresitible face. secretly, he loves this.
you can tell just by looking at his front legs).

there are not words big enough to describe what Boober means to me. there isn't a heart big enough to contain all the love i have for him, nor all the love he gives unconditionally to us. he's my little man. my lean-to. my licky larry. handsome ransom. he's been with me through hell and back. he has celebrated my triumphs, and captured more tears than any human could shoulder, and embraced a whole new family like it was his own all along.

that's my Boob.

tomorrow, he is having surgery for the first time in his 7 years of life. i have been keeping this to myself for the last 2 weeks, thinking i'd wait until all was said and done before drawing attention to the whole matter. i don't want to jinx anything. i thought by keeping my mouth shut, i could prevent an untoward outcome. but the truth is, no matter what happens after (or during) his surgery, i know only one thing: there is no other dog like this one. i have never known a more gentle, loving, compassionate creature. and we have had an incredible 7 years together. i am thankful for each and every.single.day. i get to come home to him.

i hope there are many more years in front of us. i am prepared for the worst and hoping for the best. if our news is not what we would choose, and his days become numbered, i owe him all my gratitude for the years of happiness he has brought to my life and to my family- G, E, my siblings and the many friends who have ever had the privilege of knowing him, even if only briefly- and that includes most of you, who have adored him without ever meeting him. he has that affect on people :O)

keep him close in your thoughts and tangled in your prayers. i plan to do the same.

  6. I'll definitely be thinking of him. He is your sweet boy.

I actually have a post going up tomorrow about my kitty Asia. She has a vet appointment tomorrow (just her yearly), and I brace myself now ever since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. I hope she is still cancer free.
