conversations with E

E: Mama did you kiss Baba a lot? (After her inquiries to our beginnings at age 17).

Mom: I guess I did sweetie.

E: did you kiss him for a long time? Your mom let you?

Mom: sometimes I did and at 17 yes, my mom let me.

E: well I want a boyfriend (grinning).

Mom: oh you do? How come?

E: well so I can kiss him all kind of different ways.

Mom: (help us now): all different ways? What different ways?

E: long kisses and kisses with my eyes closed.

Mom: well it's true a good kiss will make you close your eyes, but I think you might be a little young for a boyfriend and kissing. Do you like a boy in school?

E: no I want to kiss a stranger.

(No, no alarm bells HERE).

Mom: a stranger? Like who a stranger?!

E: well that boy from the movie like in Princess Diaries because he surprise her and kiss her.

And so the crushes begin....and the clock keeps ticking, forward forward, no matter how hard i try to stall and stop it!

  1. Oh dear! My 6 year old began to tell me about her friend who likes X. Being curious I asked what boy she liked. She proceeded to name the sweetest boy I know (I teach at the same school), but then she quickly added, "But he doesn't like me." Well, that just broke my heart (silly huh?). Turns out, he only wants to marry his mom!
Told you ... sweetest boy EVER! I hope she keeps her taste in boys .....

  2. LOVE her!! Love that photo too! So cute! Ahhh...the crushes...they have started here there a way to make time stand still just for a little while? ;)

  3. I still remember my shock when H told me she had kissed Axel on the lips on the school bus going to swimming and smugly informed me it was ok because the teacher didn't notice! I think we need to worry more when they stop telling us!

  4. Oh boy! Try to keep your calm and not panic. Yet.

And that face is a hoot.

  5. So very sweet and so very innocent.

  6. Conversations with M this morning. What is that? Are you wearing a bra????????? Yes. Noticing that it (training bra intended for age 10 or 11) appeared to be on correctly. Were you practicing? Yes.

Yikes - growing up too fast. Mama must try to stay calm........
